Destiny set forth

This was a video that an LDS Facebook friend of mine sent to me. Mom said that she had already heard it but I hadn't and I thought it was great. Anyway the reason for the title is because my two major life achieving accomplishments are about to happen, and happen soon back-to-back. The two accomplishments that I'm talking about are my Eagle Scout award and my testing for Second Degree Black Belt.

Speaking of my Second Degree Black Belt the testing is this Friday and the ceremony is on Saturday. This will be the last testing that I'll most likely ever have at this studio. Even if I decide to do a martial art somewhere down the road it probably won't be at this studio, so this testing will still be a landmark achievement in its own right. If I don't do another martial art then this will be the only time that I've ever done one, if I do decide to practice another martial art then this will have been my first martial arts experience. Either way this will be a major landmark achievement that I will view with pride and it would mean a lot to me if you all got to witness it. There will be some kind of party later on after the testing, so feel free to stick around afterwards.

As for my Eagle Scout, I will be having a board of review for my Life rank. So in a week or two I'll " finally have my Life". Ha Ha Ha, well now that I'm literally one rank away from Eagle I'm pretty excited. However, I'm getting pretty close to my 18th birthday so I need to step this up, get my project going, and finish off the remaining merit badges before it's too late! But once I do get my Eagle Scout this will be another landmark achievement that I can look back on with pride throughout the rest of my life.

This week was the first week of the official Water Polo league games! On Tuesday we played Modesto High, and lost 13-6! Then we played Beyer high school on Thursday and won 9-17. I did not score in either of those games unfortunately. So our record is 1-1 right now. Next week we play Ceres on Tuesday and Oakdale on Thursday so wish me luck! Once again today I was reminded of the bet I made a couple of weeks ago between me and Brother Lewis and I seriously hope that I get that blasted milkshake, for whoever loses the bet has to eat their words, but it's a friendly competition, and Brian Lewis and I are friends so we'll get over it, plus Downey and Johansen get to play each other twice.

So yesterday I celebrated my cousin Brittan's 25th birthday party with Ryan, Becca, Grandma Barbara, Aunt Laurie, Unlce Murray, Aunt Carrie, and Jariet. There were more people but I really don't/didn't know them so there's little point in mentioning them. The party was boring since all we did was stand around and talk and eat.

The eating part was great but, as Mom pointed out so very shrewdly, I don't like parties where people stand around and talk. It is so boring! I like the kind of parties where someone's actually doing something, like playing games or watching movies, or going somewhere. I seriously get bored easily if all I do at a party is stand and talk, even if I know everybody at the party and the food is great I still won't like the party as much as if I did something.

Anyway I've heard a lot about the stock market crashing, and I wonder if America is going to go into a recession like the one in the 30's. I seriously hope not, and I hope that the economy will pick up, and soon. Speaking of politics I got to play a game in my Government class called "Are you a Democrat or Republican?" The game was played where Mr. Moreno (my teacher) showed us pictures of famous people and we the students have to guess about the people's political party. Most of the people turned out to be celebrities, so guess what most of the answers were. Anyway a major way one can tell who's what is by finding out how much money they donate to a political party. There's a website for this, but I forgot it. I'm sure I'll find out soon and let you all know.

So that's it for me, I love you all and I continually pray for you.

Love, Grant
